Methodology
We publish how we arrive at every figure. If we cannot explain a number, we do not show it.
Where the data comes from
The published ranges are built from four sources, kept separate:
- The experience of the association's technicians. Initial values are based on professional experience and are progressively replaced by measured data.
- Recommended consumer prices published by parts distributors. We do not use and do not publish the net purchase prices charged to repair shops — those are confidential commercial information.
- Prices proposed by repair shops registered on the platform.
- Consumer reports of what they actually paid.
How it is calculated
The cost of a part is relatively uniform across the country, since the same distributors determine it. Labour, by contrast, varies considerably. For each fault we therefore show the part cost and the labour cost separately — and where the part is too cheap to matter on its own, we show a single total instead.
Each fault has one or more part options. The recommended option is not always the original one. On television backlight LED strips, for example, compatible parts are cheaper and usually more reliable than the originals, and the recommendation reflects that.
When we show no price at all
- Devices that have come into contact with liquid. Never, without exception. Corrosion advances over time, and what is broken today is not the same as what will be broken next week. Any shop that quotes a firm price before opening the device is guessing.
- Faults that require inspection. When the possible causes differ too much from one another for a correct range.
- Faults without enough data. We would rather show no number than a wrong one.
What we do not do
- We do not rate, test, inspect or rank repair shops.
- We do not publish prices tied to any particular shop.
- We do not store or publish named complaints about repair shops.
- We do not tell you where to go. That choice is entirely yours.
The repair shop score
The score measures only how a shop participates on this platform: how many questions it has answered, how quickly, and how useful the answers were. The score is not an assessment of repair quality, of the prices charged, or of the shop's honesty. A high score means only that the shop has helped many people here with information.
The score cannot fall because of complaints. Negative points do not exist.
Regions
Ranges are calculated nationally. Labour costs differ considerably from one town to another — in Bucharest and the larger cities, higher rents and wages feed directly into the rates charged. A price above the range shown does not automatically mean you are being overcharged.
We record the county with every report, but we do not yet use it in the calculation: we do not have enough data for correct regional ranges. When we do, we will publish the threshold at which a regional breakdown becomes statistically acceptable.
Corrections
Data is not deleted. A correction creates a new record, and the old one remains marked as superseded. Every value carries its date, its source, and the version of the formula that produced it.
Challenges
Any interested party, including any business, may challenge a published figure. We examine the challenge and give a reasoned reply within at most 15 days of registration. Challenges and replies are kept in a dedicated register.
We currently publish 50 fault types and have 0 validated consumer reports. Updated: 26.09.2026.
