Colectare gratuită de la domiciliu la nivel național, pentru cantități de peste 50 kg (persoane fizice). Sub această cantitate, predarea se face la unul dintre punctele de pe harta lor. Pentru firme, pragul este de 150 kg.

Harta Reciclării — hartă națională interactivă
Alegi localitatea și tipul de deșeu, iar harta îți arată punctele din zonă. Oricine poate adăuga sau corecta un punct, deci este cea mai actualizată sursă. Dacă mai jos nu găsești nimic în localitatea ta, aici caută prima dată.
ECOTIC — harta punctelor de colectare
Peste 9000 de locații cu recipiente de colectare pentru deșeuri electrice mici, baterii, becuri și neoane — în magazine, benzinării, instituții, școli.
RoRec — Asociația Română pentru Reciclare
27 de centre de colectare la standarde europene, în 24 de județe, plus peste 2500 de puncte cu containere în lanțuri de retail, benzinării, instituții și școli.

Colectare atât de la persoane fizice, cât și de la firme. Preluarea se solicită prin formularul de pe site.
Magazinele de electronice și electrocasnice
Altex, Flanco, Media Galaxy — și hipermarketurile Auchan, Carrefour, Kaufland, Metro, Selgros. La cumpărarea unui aparat nou de același tip sunt obligate să preia gratuit aparatul vechi, unu la unu. Magazinele mari de electronice preiau gratuit și aparatele foarte mici — telefoane, încărcătoare, căști — chiar fără să cumperi ceva. Dacă nu vezi un spațiu de colectare, întreabă la biroul de relații cu clienții.
Primăria localității tale
Fiecare primărie are obligația de a asigura colectarea separată a deșeurilor electrice. Întreabă la primărie punctul de colectare din localitate sau calendarul campaniilor — multe primării organizează colectări periodice, chiar de la domiciliu.
Not worth repairing. Now what?
When the answer is "not worth it", the next question follows immediately: so what do I do with it? Here are the options, in the order worth trying them.
1. Someone else may still use it
A device not worth repairing for you may work perfectly for someone else, or become a source of parts for a repair that is worth doing.
The Doctor Electro Association accepts donated equipment. Whatever can be refurbished goes free of charge to elderly people and low-income families. Whatever cannot becomes parts for other repairs — or goes to an authorised operator, properly.
2. The shop is obliged to take it back
When you buy a new device of the same type, the retailer is obliged to take the old one back free of charge, one for one. This is not a favour — it is a legal obligation, and it cannot be made conditional on anything.
Large electronics stores must also take back very small devices — phones, chargers, headphones — free of charge, even if you buy nothing in return.
If you are refused, ask for the refusal in writing. It usually resolves the matter on the spot.
3. Collection points
Every local authority is obliged to provide separate collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment. Ask your town hall about the local collection point, or the schedule of collection campaigns — many run periodic door-to-door collections.
What not to do
Batteries separately
If you can remove the battery without damaging it, take it to a battery collection point — almost every supermarket has one.
Never put a swollen battery in the bin and never transport it compressed. A swollen lithium battery is a real fire risk. Keep it separate, in a non-combustible container, away from sunlight, and take it in as soon as you can.
The data on the device
Before passing on a phone, tablet or laptop, erase your data. A factory reset is enough for modern phones and tablets, where storage is encrypted. On older laptops with a conventional hard drive it is not enough — there the drive must be overwritten or removed.
If you are unsure, take the drive out and keep it. A laptop without a drive still has value as parts.
