Why this site exists

The most common reason a broken device never reaches a repair shop is that the owner does not know what to expect on price — and assumes it will be too expensive anyway. That is how appliances end up in the bin when 300 lei would have fixed them.

We are the Doctor Electro Association, a non-profit in Mureș county. We repair devices free of charge for elderly people and low-income families, refurbish donated equipment, and train volunteers.

This tool does one thing: it tells you the usual price range for your problem, and whether it is worth repairing at all. So you know, before you leave the house, whether the trip makes sense.

Who benefits

The consumer, obviously. But honest repair shops too: today the one who loses is the one who quotes the real price on the phone, because someone else quotes half and adds the rest at the end. A public price range makes the unrealistic quote visible — without us accusing anyone.

The conflict of interest, stated openly

Members of the association work in the repair trade. That is why the platform does not list repair shops, does not rate them, and does not recommend where to go — and businesses in which our members hold interests cannot be favoured through this tool. The declarations of interest are public.

The legal background

Directive (EU) 2024/1799 on the promotion of the repair of goods applies from 31 July 2026. Manufacturers must offer repairs, make spare parts available at non-prohibitive prices, and publish indicative repair costs. The common European interface, however, will not be fully operational before 2028. Until then, Romania has no single place where a consumer can check in advance what to expect.
